How did you decide to get into your line of work?
I was helping a friend build decks and pergolas in 1991 and found it highly satisfying to start the weekend with someones unusable back yard and by the end of the weekend a new 'room' had been created for the family to enjoy. I have loved creating new 'rooms' for people ever since.
Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?
I was renovating a double storey 700m2 home in Chapel Hill a few years ago and the client was always happy with our work even though we had totally gutted their million dollar home. Their hospitality throughout the extensive project made it a happy work site for all involved.
What do you like most about your job?
Creating something from scratch. Chatting to clients about their vision and being able to help them achieve those goals. Satisfied Customers.
What questions should a customer ask to hire the right builder?
Have you done this type of work before? If so, can you show me some photos? - If they don't have them on their phone then it would be a red flag for me. All tradesman save photos of their good projects.
Can it be done cheaper?
Yes through a team effort over the design and construction methods/ materials.
Can it be done quicker?
Yes but this normally costs more as more resources are required.
Can they change their mind during the project?
Yes they can and we will accommodate any change.
What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?
We hold current insurances for the following: Public & Product Liability - $20M.
We offer 12 months maintenance warranty and 7 years structural guarantee on all of our work.
Home Warranty Insurance is included in any contract over $3300 inc GST.
What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?
Scope of Works - All details of the work required.
Timeframe for works to commence and be completed by.
Timeframe when quote is required by.
Who the quote is to be made out to - who will be paying the bills.
Access and parking - for deliveries, trade vehicles and trade waste.
Plans and Approvals.

These tips help save money for the client.
Are there any special offers Kingi Constructions offer their customers?
I offer free design advice and concept drawings for all of my clients to allow them to visualise their ideas before finalising their scope of works.
What makes your pricing competitive?
Due to my extensive experience in residential construction, I generally save people money overall by offering cost-saving solutions for their projects either through design and/or alternate construction methods and materials used for their project.
How do you normally charge for your service?
Pending on the clients requirements I normally quote a fixed price for projects but can offer an hourly rate solution for smaller jobs.
Fixed price contracts are charged out as Progress Claims as per the contract.

Deposit (Locks in work into KC Schedule) 5% $5,716.10
Commencement (Approvals, Ramp, Door & Landscaping) 20% $22,864.40
Pre-Construction (Building Approval Obtained, start decks and lounge). 30% $34,296.60
Framing Stage (all posts, bearers, joists, trusses in place) 20% $22,864.40
Pre-Paint (all cladding, gyprock and decking in place) 20% 22,864.40
Completed 5% $5,716.10

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?
Residential renovations. I have a very good eye for design and maximising value and liveability for all rooms of the home.
What experience, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?
I have a builders licence with a trade in Carpentry and Joinery and an advanced Diploma in Project Management.
I offer 30 years experience in residential building and 10+ years in Project Management and Property Development.
